Located just below the Hollywood sign at the entrance of Lake Hollywood Estates, this home was in need of a remodel. Built in the late 60s and remodeled over the years the new owners were looking to expand their square footage by remodeling the front entry, laundry room, kitchen and redesigning the great room to create a more cohesive flow through the home.

Genkan // a traditional Japanese entryway primarily functioning as an interstitial space to harness the exterior environment from the interior clean environment. A place to pause, remove shoes and rest the energy flow before entering the home.

Enclosing a covered porch allowed our team to be build out the genkan zone to grade level.

The warm vertical grain white oak wood cabinetry offers both functionality and warmth, creating an inviting transition from the outdoors into the home.  Ample storage was a requirement to store shoes, coats, and other essentials, ensuring the space remains uncluttered and organized.

To enhance the sense of openness, vertical wood slats are incorporated into the design, allowing natural light to filter through while maintaining privacy from the front yard.

New cathedral ceilings and clerestory windows invite the afternoon sun into the home.

The homeowners wanted an office that was easily accessible yet hidden from view when entertaining.  Behind the sleek white false panel wall, a hidden media room offers an exclusive entertainment space, while an alternative office is concealed within the warm white oak walls.

Inviting more light and hillside views, a kitchen remodel and creating a better flow and connection to the common spaces were just a few of our clients’ goals.

By updating the kitchen layout, we incorporated a new appliance garage and floor-to-ceiling cabinetry. This addition provides ample storage, keeping essentials accessible yet out of sight for a cleaner, more organized space.

The redesign also opened the kitchen to the new deck and outdoor area, providing an indoor and outdoor living connection. This enhanced flow makes the space more inviting and functional for both everyday use and entertaining.

Multi-sliding 32′ W x 8′ H glass doors along the rear facade invite light and fresh air into the home from the kitchen, dining and office.

Four 8′ wide glass door sliders stack neatly behind the wall creating a fully open passage, blurring the lines between interior and exterior spaces.
