Lake Pitch House
A transitional home remodel in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, Alloi was commissioned to design and build this home which sits on a slightly sloped hillside. The transitional design evokes historical elements of the local architectural vernacular with simple eave-less gable elements juxtaposed with modern ribbons of horizontal bands of durable cement board integrated landscape walls.
Conceptually nestling the home into the front hill, we used the existing driveway space to encapsulate a modern two car garage with a custom green roof. Planting on the green roof screens and softens the view over the city while also providing a private courtyard and dining patio.
A large cathedral primary gable was built to accommodate a spacious living room and custom home office.
In the backyard, the primary bedroom and kitchen were expanded to leverage views that unroll onto a beautiful pool area. We designed a custom flat-roofed dining patio, equipped with overhead exterior heaters to ensure cozy family dinners even during chilly winter evenings.
