The homeowners sought a modern transformation of their 1960s Hollywood Hills home, focusing on a complete remodel of the rear patio and the entire facade. They requested three design options, and we created a range of front facade concepts to fulfill their vision.
The first option guides residents to the south-facing views via a winding staircase partially obscured by a vine-covered rainscreen, which enhances privacy while allowing natural light and glimpses of the outdoors from the road below.
A hidden entrance subtly integrates with the garage facade.
The second design option includes a new glass facade facing south, maximizing views and providing ample natural lighting throughout the day.
In this concept, we also reconfigured the interior common spaces to improve flow between the living, dining, and kitchen areas.
We relocated the entrance to the rear, on the north side, providing a completely private entryway.
The final option extended the staircase along the south facade, emphasizing the connection between the common areas and scenic vistas.
A spacious corner balcony on the southwest corner was added, offering stunning views of the Hollywood Reservoir and creating an immersive outdoor experience.
As viewed from the curved street below the corner glass volume extends living space while maintaining it’s structural foundation on the hillside.
The existing home perched on the steep hill transformed and restructured allows an architectural facade porosity to enhance views and breezes
